Measures Undertaken to Ensure Client Safety and Quality of Care
At BD Homecare, we ensure the safety and quality of our services for clients through a rigorous three-stage screening and final merit-ranking process for all caregivers. Each of these stages holds distinct importance.
1) Security Screening:
Ensuring client safety is our foremost commitment. All caregivers are required to submit copies of their National ID (NID), photographs, and full contact addresses. We verify the authenticity of these documents, and only upon completion of this step can a caregiver become a member of BD Homecare. However, beyond this, we proactively encourage caregivers to complete additional voluntary steps and provide further documentation. Those who fulfill these additional criteria receive a higher security clearance and are prioritized for assignments. These optional steps are outlined below:
- Police Clearance Certificate: Caregivers who submit this certificate are placed higher on our security list. For sensitive cases, only caregivers with a submitted police clearance are assigned. While currently voluntary, the submission of a police clearance certificate will soon become mandatory.
- Testimonials from Two Acquaintances: The caregiver provides the names, addresses, and phone numbers of two contacts (one established professional and one relative/neighbor/friend). We speak with these individuals to assess the caregiver’s social standing. We believe that individuals respected within their community and family are less likely to engage in misconduct, as the fear of social and familial disgrace plays a significant deterrent role.
Caregivers who complete the mandatory first step along with these two subsequent voluntary steps receive our highest security clearance. Furthermore, for our “Couple Caregiver” package, the marriage certificates of caregivers identifying as a husband-wife pair are mandatorily verified.
2) Verification of Training, Experience, and Skills:
All caregivers submit copies of their training certificates and documentation of work experience in the care sector. After reviewing these, we create a preliminary merit ranking. For those without formal training or experience, we prepare them as Entry-Level Basic Caregivers through our in-house training program, retaining only the competent individuals for potential assignments.
3) Client Feedback on Caregivers:
Following the first two stages of security clearance and training verification, feedback from care recipients plays a crucial role in determining the true quality of a caregiver. We maintain regular contact with the client’s family during the service period. During or after the service term, we inquire about the quality of care, asking about the caregiver’s honesty, sincerity, proactivity, and performance.
This feedback, both positive and negative, is added to the caregiver’s profile and contributes to the final merit ranking. Any areas for improvement identified at this stage are noted, and we assist the caregiver in addressing these weaknesses. However, a caregiver who consistently demonstrates shortcomings is ultimately dismissed. This ensures that we retain only acceptable, high-quality “apples” in our basket, with no room for substandard ones.
Through this step-by-step screening process, we are building an extensive database of caregivers and their merits, which guarantees the standard of care provided.
